Today is Tuesday and something incredible is happening tonight. No my milking table has not being delivered yet unfortunately, but hockey is back! At 7 something tonight I will be back on the ice, flying around, making tape to tape passes, and scoring goals bar down. I am so excited my bird is twitching and I am swelling in the pants.
Let me take you back to March 15, 2020. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a chill in the air and scattered clouds in the sky. The boys were absolutely buzzing that day every though everything in the world was beginning to be shut down by the dreaded Covid-19. We ended up winning the game 4-1, and I tallied no stats but my impact to the team cannot be measured with normal statistics.
But after the game the boys were hanging out in the locker room reminiscing on the huge victory when the hockey director of the Ice Barn came into the locker room and said that the police are here and the Ice Barn is being shut down because Mississippi had just passed a law prohibiting social gathering. The boys were distraught and you could see the sadness in our eyes not knowing when we would be able to make tic tac toe passes to each other again. The only thing sadder is that the next day was my birthday, and I did nothing.
That was 171 days ago, or 14,774,400 seconds ago, or 4104 hours ago, for 24 weeks and 3 days ago, or 46.72% of this calendar year. Look at it however you want too, it has been a while since I have been in the Ice Barn, but we are freaking back. Tonight is a scrimmage, then a few sick and pucks over the next week, and then on September 13, 2020 the boys will take the ice for the first game of the season. Haven’t been this excited since I got to grind with a lady in high school or since I was sexually assaulted by one of the test tube drink ladies in New Orleans. Those ladies are aggressive.
Bad news however I am probably the most out of shape I have been my entire life. I work at home and have become too comfortable living a very sedentary lifestyle. After tonight going to start riding the bike again and possible running or something like that. Also the diet is going to change because I cannot become a pro hockey player if I eat McDonald’s and Wendy’s every other day. But who cares, hockey is back and the fun levels are finally starting to go up. Everyone have a nice day.
