*Garmmers not great. Also probably forgot some good ones.

Jordi Hill and Danny McBride created Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals, and the Righteous Gemstones which are three of my favorite shows that have ever been on tv. They are all great and have the messed up comedy that I love and when I try to tell people about it they look at me like I should be institutionalized. Fun fact the last lobotomy in the United States happened in 1967 which resulted in the patient’s death, however the practice of lobotomy continued into the early 1980’s in France. That seems a bit insane.

Back to Jordi Hill and Danny McBride. This is the definitive ranking of characters in the Hill McBride universe. There have been so many characters and this will tell you which ones are the best.
RANKINGS FROM BEST TO STILL AWESOME

Kenny Powers (Eastbound and Down) – I mean what to say, this is the man that started it all back in February of 2009. He is the basis of all Danny McBride’s characters and it works. We have seen this character in all of his shows and movies and everything he say still makes me chuckle. His dedication for everything to be about him and only him is hilarious.

Lee Russell (Vice Principals) – possibly no one in the McBride universe has made me laugh as consistently as Less Russell. His shit talking with very feminine cadences is amazing. He has said and done some of the most evil things, I mean he burnt principle Browns house down, spit in her coffee, and hatched a plan to get her drunk knowing she was a recovering alcoholic. Diabolical. This scene is amazing.

Ashley Schaeffer (Eastbound and Down) – One of the greatest axillary characters of all time (besides Noho Hank). He is perfect with his white hair and condescending remarks. Schaeffer would have already been on this list but the outtake video of him saying down in my plumbs solidifies his spot amongst the greats.

Stevie Janowski (Eastbound and Down) – Kenny Powers, possibly on the spectrum, friend and slave. Stevie changing how he acts all the time just to impress Kenny is the best. Thank goodness he found the love of his life down in Mexico and brought her back to the United States. He also makes a brief appearance in Vice Principals.
Judy Gemstone/Jen Abbott (Played by Edi Patterson) – her roles in both Vice Principals and The Righteous Gemstones are masterfully done. In Vice Principals Jen Abbott is just some goofy lady with a crush on Neal Gamby. Throughout the series she turns into a legitimately scary character in which I had to hold a pillow because I was scared at the end of the series. In the Righteous Gemstones she is the forgotten daughter of the Gemstone family and it constantly fighting for attention. Brings back nice thoughts of Molly Shannon.
Baby Bill Gemstone (The Righteous Gemstones) – not as sinister as Lee Russell but I think he is nonetheless probably evil. He made the list because he sings possibly the greatest tv show song in the history of television. This song has been stuck in my head for weeks now and it still slaps.
Honorable mention
Katy Mixon (Eastbound and Down) – gosh those sweet sweet milk holders should have a national monument dedicated to them.

Vida (Eastbound and Down) – amazing actress and amazing caboose, no wonder Kenny fell in love.

Step Dad Ray (Vice Principals)- Takes all of Neal Gamby’s mean insults and is a just a salt of the earth guy.

Aimee-Leigh Gemstone (The Righteous Gemstones)- she is played by the Sugarland lead singer and I love Sugarland.
Terrence Cutler (Eastbound and Down)

Aaron (Eastbound and Down)

Lee Russell’s Mother in Law (Vice Principals)
Clegg the bar tender (Eastbound and Down)

BJ (Righteous Gemstones)
